When you bet nil?

and you make a book and you have at least 10 more rounds to play, is it better to get as many books as possible at this point or just continue with the nil game you bet?

When you bet nil?
try to set the other team.If you see all bids add to 11 and they set your nil try to set them
Reply:It really depends on where the score is, how many bags you have already, and what the bids are...

For instance if the other team has 300 and 9 bags and your team has 400 and 2 bags and you went nil but booked, you've tied the game. In this case you would not want to take more books because 1 more book and they will lose 100 points.

You have to do some quick calculations to see if it would be to your advantage to book or not.
Reply:continue with the nil game.

What's inside your head when you hear a word " nil " or " zero " ?

naught

What's inside your head when you hear a word " nil " or " zero " ?
'Nil' or 'zero' are words that convey nothing to me...... what I mean is that I really am unable to comprehend absolute nothingness without reference to space and/or time.... let me elaborate.

'Nothing' in physical terms at best makes me think of empty space which does have a physical existence. Similarly it at best makes me imagine time standing still, which does have an empirical existence in terms of how long it has stood still. I am unable to comprehend absolute nothingness which has no space or time dimension at all.

As a result, zero or nil merely conveys to me a kind of non-existence that exists in a closed space or time frame.
Reply:Playing Spades, bidding blind nil, and knowing I'm good enough I'll get 200 points and not go down to zero.

Always bet blind nil on the confidence you have within when it comes to life. The confidence is the secret to winning. Even if you seem to lose to others, the confidence is something only you understand and you still win.

I love playing Spades.
Reply:I picture not only the conventional experience, which is simply the thought of non-existence, but also associate it with the empty shell of our current society. It's lack of morality and reason compares nicely with "nothing".
Reply:Physically, your brains and skull (unless you have recently undergone a fatal lobotomy or something like it). Mentally, I'd say in normal people that are in a normal state of consciousness, there's of course the word itself, together with some vague representation of "nothingness", perhaps a black field of view, or some empty container. But of course I can only speak for myself.

Need to know how to wire a flurescent light in a house?

from my ceiling I have 3 red wires twirled together, 3 black wires twirled together and another cable with a red, black, %26amp; earth wire, I would like to connect a double flurescent light which has a 3 pin connector, 1st pin has 2 wires together, a blue %26amp; white middle pin has nil wires and 3rd pin has 2 wires together both white can someone tell me how to connect which wires to where ?? much appreciated Ray

Need to know how to wire a flurescent light in a house?
sure, no problem
Reply:Call an electrician.
Reply:The best thing to do , (because of the asortment of wires you have) Go to a hardware store and buy a "Multi-Testester", they only cost around $15.00.

What this thing will do is tell you what wire are "Hot" and what are not. It has a dial that you can turn it to (120vAC) and than the needle points to that voltage and indicates what grouping of wires are "Hot".

NOTE: the power must be on when you use this thing.

Ok now the fixture, keep in mind that most electrical fixtures are made over-seas, so the elctrical codes or "common-sense" aren't followed the way we're used to them (black--hot,,white--neutral and bare or green--ground).

When wiring the fixture to your existing ceiling wire, TURN OFF THE POWER to that junction box.

I'll bet that your fixture is as follows, the blue is a hot wire (+) and the white/s are neutral(-) and you have no ground. Light fixture don't normally have a ground wire. but you can add one. Just drill a hole in the fixture and attach (using a sheet metal screw) a bare or green wire to it and the other end to the "Twisted" red , black and earth (ground).

How can i obtain a pure and dry caffeine from a caffeine which contaminated with common salt( sodium chloride)

With this infomation

Caffeine is a white solid which melts at 235 degree.Natural caffeine can be obtain from tea and used as mdidicine

Caffeine has moderate solubility in water, moderate solubility in alcohol and high solubility in propanons.

Common salt has high solubility in watr, small in alcohol and NIL in propanons

How can i obtain a pure and dry caffeine from a caffeine which contaminated with common salt( sodium chloride)
You want to make use of the difference in solubility of caffeine vs. sodium chloride in various solvents. Caffeine is only slightly soluble in water while salt is highly soluble in water. The opposite is true for organic solvents (though I don't know what you mean by "propanons"). The key is to find an organic solvent that is not water miscible, for example trichloroethane (TCE) or chloroform. Then add your caffeine-salt mixture to a water-TCE mixture. The salt will dissolve in the water, the caffeine in the TCE. Put these in a separatory funnel, shake the hell out of it, and draw off the water layer. Dry the TCE layer (over a drying agent) and evaporate off the solvent. You'll have relatively pure caffeine. If you save the water layer, you can extract any of the caffeine that dissolved in it by another TCE extraction.

Is it OK to drink Club Soda in place of water on a diet?

I wouldn't imagine there's much difference as long as the sodium content is low to nil, which is the case with the stuff I drink.

I just find plain water boring and like soda water.

Is it OK to drink Club Soda in place of water on a diet?
There is no difference between regular water %26amp; club soda from a dieting perspective. Here's a great link:

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art2...

Drink up! :-)
Reply:Same thing as long as the sodium is 0.

If you are drinking multiple bottles of soda water that sodium will add up and slow your weight loss. It will only be temporary because the extra sodium helps you retain water. The recommended daily allowance for sodium is about 2300 mg

There are also the no cal flavored waters too, if you are looking for something different.
Reply:I think it's fine -- isn't the carbonation the only real difference? I guess that's not the best thing for you, in terms of what it can do to your bones and teeth. But if it gets you to drink more liquids and you're not overdoing it, then I would say go for it. Do you ever add lemon to your water? I don't like drinking much water myself, but if I add lemon or lime that makes it go down much easier.
Reply:If everyone here is saying that there is sodium chloride content in soda water, then I should try drinking it instead of boring old plain water. I am 'salt' deficient and whilst a lot of people will drone on about sodium content being 'bad' for you, I simply need it so I don't get cramps and shrivel into a size 4.

This all started because 'all-knowing' wise people told me I shouldn't have too much salt... so I eliminated it entirely out of my diet and ten years later ended up with what they call restless legs, cramps and short term memory loss! (BTW... just added STML for effect... maybe the attention seeking characteristic was as a result of sodium chloride deficiency, who knows?)...

But on a more personal note... I think soda water tastes yuckier than plain water so I'll stick to H20 anytime.
Reply:NO. When your dieting, you want to have the least amount of stuff. if you know what i mean.

like calories,

and carbs.

all that.

and when you drink club soda in place of water, that is just going to take longer for you to lose weight.

so just drink water.

%26amp;%26amp; since you think it's boring.

Just put lots of ice in it. cause ii do that =]

%26amp;%26amp; it ends up tasteing better.
Reply:Water really is the best thing for you. Water requirements can't be switched out with other beverages even if they are primarily water (ex. tea)

I think you're just going to have to suck it up.
Reply:No, for some reason carbonation inhibits the ability to lose weight. I have read plenty of times to stay away from all carbonated drinks even if they are diet.
Reply:Not a good idea...the carbonation actually eats away at your muscles.

Nathan Explosion, Ph.D.
Reply:yes i love club soda. As long as it doesnt have a bunch of sugars and caffeine, you should be fine.
Reply:stay away from anything carbonated

it causes gas bubbles which in turn makes your stomach bloated
Reply:its ok
Reply:yes its k

Can America afford to have the republican party abandon Ronald?

Reagan Conservatism ? We have an election where the liberal republican McCain is running against the liberal (socialist Obama).

Obama and McCain will pass: Global Warming Bill, Cap and Trade Bill, No Drilling legislation… and probably more, where the difference is nil.

Can America afford to have the republican party abandon Ronald?
Where's Ronnie when we need him? We need him now.
Reply:Presidents don't introduce legislation, they just accept or veto what Congress has already passed. McCain is willing to leave Iraq when we finish our commitment to our Iraqi allies. Obama is willing to leave Iraq as soon as he gets the chance. That is the difference.
Reply:"i don't recall"

i think with McCain's mind already showing signs of failing

he will be exactly like Reagan

"i don't recall"

"i don't remember"

"aids?...just ignore it and it will go away"

everytime a republican is in office many bad things happen
Reply:Wake up buddy, that happened a long time ago. If you think the republican party of the last decade or two represents Reagan conservatism, then you don't think too highly of our 40th president.

Is it true that professional growth in IT companies is stunted if a person does not go into management?

I'm totally interested in web development and I'm not really into management. People keep telling me that unless I go into management, my professional growth in software companies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS and CTS is virtually nil. Is that true? Aren't there any technical positions that are high up in the hierarchy and pay just as much as managerial postions?

Is it true that professional growth in IT companies is stunted if a person does not go into management?
Many companies have realised this is a problem and have created senior technical roles. Otherwise, they promote the wrong people into management and performance is bad or they leave, or both! I know a lot of people that are called a variety of things like "Senior System Architect", "Technical Evangelist", etc. Ask about these things when you are interviewing - every company is different and most will regard the fact you are considering your long term future as a positive thing at interview.
Reply:Don't forget that TECHNICAL expertise is the backbone of

any business for the matter (%26amp; more so in IT Companies) -

there is no work for Management employees without the technical back end. Management expertise is more supplementary in the larger %26amp; actual/real context, FYI-
Reply:Yes my friend this is unfortunately true. The problem with IT is that there are a hell lot of jobs and a hell lot of people willing to take up these jobs. With more and more Engg. colleges opening up in almost every city, the number of people whoo pass out every year and take up jobs is simply phenomenal.

You will need an MBA if you really want to grow. Or else say goodbye to high packages, great prospects and a good lifestyle.

No matter how much you love your job, you will have to do an MBA or else you will not grow
Reply:Most reputable companies have a technical ladder that is equivalent to a managerial ladder.
